We are so happy to welcome John Forrest Mellor Jr. into our family. He was born on September 9, 2014 at 6:56 pm weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces, 19 inches long.
The birth of our second child was a much different experience than our first but the overwhelming and humbling emotions felt just as strong. Again, we turned ourselves over to faith and modern medicine to bring this child safely into the world. We feel so incredibly blessed to be able to have another healthy baby join our family.
This time around I gave up the idea of a natural birth and wanted to participate in any and all interventions possible. Our doctor agreed to put me out of pregnancy misery and induce me five days early. We reported to the hospital on the morning of September 9th and let the good times begin. They broke my water and started pitocin right away. The epidural came shortly after and we were on our way. Thankfully, we had several episodes of Homeland to help pass the hours away. After 10 hours of a very smooth and non painful labor, they said I was ready to start pushing. It only took about 5 minutes of pushing and our baby Johnny made his debut. I can’t describe the joy and sense of relief that overcame me at that moment. We had a perfect baby boy in our arms and our family was now complete.
Welcome to the world, Johnny!
