First Hay Crop – June 23, 2012

We’ve been working hard the last couple years to get our pasture to grow grass hay and it’s finally starting to happen. Lots of hours with seeding, digging ditches, and irrigation (which we love) are starting to give us some results. Last year we only got one cutting of hay off our field and it was 57 bales. This weekend we got our first cutting of the year and got 220 bales! John was over the moon.  I’m not sure the hay is very good yet (the horses will decide) but I’m hoping we will get another couple cuttings which will get better and better. More reasons for John to hang out on the tractor.
